Check out last Saturday's blog post for the back story on this... Click Here!
Straight out the gate I went bold with the remodel. I wanted something fun, bright, fresh and clean. I also wanted to showcase the lines of the desk. Here's a sneak peak:
I have spent many hours sanding, repairing, priming, painting, more sanding, a lot more painting and applying wallpaper. It's been a time consuming labor of love but worth every second. I adore how the desk is turning out. I hope you do too.
Check back next week when I will post pictures of the finished product.
I recently discovered artist Jill Denton from Memphis. She is amazing. Check out the Jill Denton Art store on Etsy. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from her shop:
Not only is Jill a great artist she is also a pro upcycler (let's just pretend like that's an actual word). Jill recently featured the below piano on her blog "INSIDE OUT". I was in awe of the transformation. I had to share this with my readers... hold on to your hats....this is good....
are you as impressed as I was? Isn't this fantastic?
This blog post contains information from the Better Homes and Garden's article "House Tours: Decorate with Vintage Finds". In this Work it Wednesday blog post I am sending you to the source for the info:
Mix Old with New: I believe buying vintage is all about making it work with your current lifestyle. I love eclectic decor. Eclectic decor adds originality, personality, and depth to an otherwise drab decorating scheme.
Repurpose New Items: Being that I make a living repurposing/upcycling vintage items, I'm a big fan of this piece of advice
Mix the Elements: In other words, a room doesn't have to have all wood furniture or all metal... it can be mixed. I said it above and I'll say it again...Eclectic decor adds originality, personality, and depth to an otherwise drab decorating scheme.
Find Beauty in the Old:This is my core belief and why I started Happy Day Vintage. So yes, this is one of my favorite tips.
Thank you for reading my blog and Have a Happy Day!
This past week I met with one of my favorite clients/friends, Erin.
Erin purchased four jewelry boxes from HDV. Upon delivery of the four boxes Erin opted to buy an additional four for a total of eight, yes eight!, jewelry boxes.
I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with Erin and her charming young son, Braden. During our time together Erin strongly encouraged me to start refurbishing large furniture. I've put great thought into upcycling furniture. My husband and I have discussed it in length. He too has enouraged me to grow the HDV business by taking on furniture.
It was my husbands and Erin's amazing encouragement which brought me to purchase my first large piece of furniture.
I LOVE this piece. Isn't it gorgeous? The curves are so sleek, retro and straight up amazing. I have big plans for this desk... more on that next week.
Thank you, Erin, for a great time and for being such an amazing friend/client.
Not long ago a high profile New York party planner, Tammy Golson, received a surprise gift from a good friend. That friend bought Tammy's fab gift from Happy Day Vintage.
Tammy, of Tammy Golson Events, has included a picture of her Happy Day Vintage Serving tray (the three tiered white one in the pic below)in a recent blog post. Needless to say I was ECSTATIC to see this picture. I mean, who better to give an example on how to incorporate vintage treasures into everyday entertaining then a well known New York party planner?...
Personally, I love how she mixes the vintage with modern and fun pieces. Brilliant!
