Mobile Home Monday -

This was actually posted for the first time last year.  It got a great amount of hits so I'm assuming you guys liked it?... thus I'm bringing it back.  Ok, truth be told yesterday was mother's day, we were out of the house all day and I didn't get a chance to post a new Mobile Home Monday so I'm re-posting.
I hope all the Moms, sisters, friends, aunts, caregivers, god moms, etc... had a fantastic mother's day!

New Listings for April 5th!

It's been a busy, but great, week (more on why it's been so busy in another post). Because of this only one new jewelry box has been listed in HDV this week. The good news, it's a really adorable jewelry box.  The colors are subtle yet cheery and fun.  The inside reveals a ton of storage space. Check it out for yourself...

Welcome to My Crazy Life

The few pictures in this blog were not taken from my workbench as usual but instead from my kitchen island. That's the beauty of what I do....I get do something I love, grow my business, and play with my kids all at the same time.

After snapping a few pictures of my partly finished jewelry boxes,  I realized the craziness that surrounds me is somewhat comical and maybe worth sharing. For example, while I was distracted snapping the jewelry box shown below,  Murphy (our Great Dane) snuck into the garbage. I caught the evidence on film.

Want another example of my crazy yet comical life? No?, Too bad. You're getting one anyway.  I fed the kids a snack then, thinking they were content with their popcorn, I focus on continuing to refurbish my jewelry boxes. While I'm doing this the kids decide to be puppies. Based on this pic, its obvious I  expect nothing but the best of etiquette from my kids.

As if eating their popcorn off the floor like a puppy wasn't enough, my daughter then decided to take a ride on our shop vac.

And this is what a typical day is like in my home. I'm a lucky lady.
The jewelry boxes shown in this post will be listed on HDV the afternoon of Friday, March 23rd.

New Listings for Feb 22nd!

It's Wednesday again and that means new jewelry boxes!  Coming straight from my kitchen table, Here's a sneak peek at what will be listed on HDV tonight...

Note: I wanted to get this blog posted asap. A couple of the jewelry boxes are missing a handle. Never fear, those are easy fixes and will be fixed before listing tonight.

A huge jewelry box able to take on a large collection of jewelry... or whatever you decide to put in it. Features lots of compartments perfect for organizing.

Every girl needs some jersey-ish fabuliciousness (yup, I just made up a bunch of words). This jewelry box features two drawers and a top that flips up showcasing even MORE storage and the original mirror.
Don't worry, the handle on the bottom will be fixed.

I'm in love with this jewelry box. It's big. The top flips up to reveal an unbelievable amount of storage space as well as the original mirror.  It also has two full size drawers. Love love love this one. Did I mention I really love this jewelry box?

Obviously I was thinking of a nursery when I put together this jewelry box. Imagine giving this as a baby shower gift.  Fill the inside with all things baby.  Or, if it's gonna be a girl imagine giving this as the little girl's first jewelry box? Fill it with headbands barrettes, etc...
The doors are cut out. Originally there were glass panes.  However, I dropped one of the panes. I actually like the box better being able to see through to the inside... but this was my mistake and therefore I will slightly reduce the price of the listing.

A sweet taste of summer. This jewelry box is clean and bright, it makes me happy just looking at it. The top opens showing off lots of compartments and the original mirror. The body of the box has four drawers and a area to hang necklaces and/or bracelets.
I will be adding a handle to the top drawer.

The fix boxes will be listed on HDV tonight at 7:00 CST.

Work it Wed - Blending

Look what interesting tid bit of information I found...
Did you know that many, if not most, blenders can be used with a standard mason jar, or wide-mouthed mason jar? This is a trick my mother taught me. Apparently 40 years ago or so, about the time this blender pictured was bought, manufacturers used to include a mason jar in the box with the blender...(see Simply Recipes Blog for the entire post)

The Simply Recipes blog recommends using this method for grounding spices, whipped cream or peanut butter.  That's all well and good but I'm thinking this would be perfect for making a yummy Margarita and then just drinking right out of the jar. Please tell me someone else was thinking the same thing ?
For a more in depth "how to" description check out the Simply Recipes blog post.

Work it Wednesday - How to Hang Plates

Yesterdays blog showcased the trend of hanging vintage plates to make an original, unique and amazing work of art. Here are few of inspiration photos to get your creative side clicking...

To see more inspirational photos check out yesterdays blog post:

Many of you have asked about the best way to hang these little works of art.  The Atomic Chic asked:
"I rent so I'm unsure if I could pull off plate hanging, is there a way to hang them without having to nail them in?"

I have found the solution.  Well, really it's wasn't ME who found it but after some research I found out what is the best product out there:
These are the Disc Hangers. As you can see they come in five sizes and hold weight up to 7 lbs. They range in price from $1.00-$3.00/hanger.
Check out the DISC Plate website for yourself

If you would rather use the Martha method (as shown in the pic below)

Happy Hanging! If you do decide to take on this project be sure to send me pictures.  I would LOVE to see them.
