New Listings for Feb 22nd!

It's Wednesday again and that means new jewelry boxes!  Coming straight from my kitchen table, Here's a sneak peek at what will be listed on HDV tonight...

Note: I wanted to get this blog posted asap. A couple of the jewelry boxes are missing a handle. Never fear, those are easy fixes and will be fixed before listing tonight.

A huge jewelry box able to take on a large collection of jewelry... or whatever you decide to put in it. Features lots of compartments perfect for organizing.

Every girl needs some jersey-ish fabuliciousness (yup, I just made up a bunch of words). This jewelry box features two drawers and a top that flips up showcasing even MORE storage and the original mirror.
Don't worry, the handle on the bottom will be fixed.

I'm in love with this jewelry box. It's big. The top flips up to reveal an unbelievable amount of storage space as well as the original mirror.  It also has two full size drawers. Love love love this one. Did I mention I really love this jewelry box?

Obviously I was thinking of a nursery when I put together this jewelry box. Imagine giving this as a baby shower gift.  Fill the inside with all things baby.  Or, if it's gonna be a girl imagine giving this as the little girl's first jewelry box? Fill it with headbands barrettes, etc...
The doors are cut out. Originally there were glass panes.  However, I dropped one of the panes. I actually like the box better being able to see through to the inside... but this was my mistake and therefore I will slightly reduce the price of the listing.

A sweet taste of summer. This jewelry box is clean and bright, it makes me happy just looking at it. The top opens showing off lots of compartments and the original mirror. The body of the box has four drawers and a area to hang necklaces and/or bracelets.
I will be adding a handle to the top drawer.

The fix boxes will be listed on HDV tonight at 7:00 CST.

A few ideas

Today's blog post features a few creative ways to use refurbished jewelry boxes.  Place your jewelry box on a desk, dresser, or in a craft room. Place it on a bathroom counter, a book shelf, or in the family room... because it's much too pretty to tuck away in a closet.
First, the obvious:
A Jewelry Box:

Put in a sewing room to store all your sewing notions:

In a child's room to display the billions of "treasures" kids seem to acquire:

Use to Store mani/pedi supplies:
How would you use your jewelry box?

Friday - An Update

I know Fridays have always been reserved for Fashion.  Not this week. Frankly I just don't feel like doing it. Instead I want to update my readers on my new favorite project..
This past week I've been working on a few things.  Some of which include a baby girl's first jewelry box, an upcycled manual typewriter, and this amazing vintage gun rack.  That's right, I said Gun Rack! In it's first life this was a gun rack. I worked all week transforming it into an ultra chic storage unit.
Here are a few pictures:

I love this thing. It would be a great conversational piece.
In addition to the the two ideas above, this would be the perfect piece for...
A Kitchen: paper towels, places, sugar, hanging utensils from the peg board, etc...
Garden: store pots, seeds, garden utensils, etc..
Mud Room: Hang an umbrella and/or dog leash, keep keys, sunscreen, mail drop off spot, etc...
Nursery: diapers, lotions, toys, books, etc...
it would also be great for the pantry, laundry room, CRAFT ROOM, coffee center, bathroom toiletries, and on and on and on.
As you can see I'm rather excited about this one.
So is Murphy:

Upcycled Thursdays - Jewelry boxes

For a long time I've wanted to refurbish vintage furniture. I've done a couple pieces for my home but nothing major.  Unfortunately I have yet to figure out a way to cheaply and easily ship furniture.  Therefore I will not be upcycling furniture for HDV.  However, I've found a way to refurbish on a much smaller scale. I have started upcycling vintage wood jewelry boxes.

And now the after pictures:

I love these! Each box is unique, each one tells a story, and each box offers plenty of storage for jewelry. But they don't stop there. I have a refurbished box on my desk. It keeps my office supplies beautifully organizedMy daughter has chosen a box which I will refurbish for her bedroom. She will use it for all her special keepsakes such as polly pockets, hair supplies, chapstick, stickers and whatever else she finds valuable on that particular day.

Not all of the boxes in the above pictures have been listed on HDV, but they will be. I also have a few wood boxes I have yet to refurbish to be sure to stay tuned to HDV for new creations.
