Do your vintage books carry a funky smell?
The smell comes from moisture. Paper drys slowly because it is so good at absorbing moisture quickly.
According to "Real Simple" Magazine:Get rid of any moisture, and the musty smell, by standing the book up so it's pages fan out in front of an air conditioner or fan for two or three days. Then store the book inside a closed plastic storage container with an open box of baking soda until the mustiness clears.
